Canada Announces Roster for Parapan American Games

Canada has announced its 7 a side soccer roster for the 2007 Parapan American Games set to take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil from 12-17 August. The seven-a-side Canadian team will be making its first appearance at the Parapan American Games which has had two previous editions (1999 and 2003).

“I believe we could be a pleasant surprise at this competition”, says head coach Drew Ferguson. “We now have a few new players that make us a better team and we understand that the other countries will have also spent time strengthening their teams so it will be fun to see how we match up, especially with three of the teams competing in this competition being ranked in the top eight in the world.”

The Canadian team will take on Argentina (13 August) and Colombia (15 August). Group A consists of teams from the United States, Brazil and Venezuela.

The team will be arriving in Toronto for a short training camp from 3-5 August before departing for Rio on 6 August.
