Notice of Passing: Gilles Henry

The board of directors, staff and members of the Canadian Cerebral Palsy Sports Association are saddened by the recent passing of former national boccia team member Gilles Henry on February 14th 2009. We join the members of the Association quebecoise de sports pour paralytiques cerebraux (AQSPC) and the boccia players of the Quebec Boccia Circuit in offering our condolences to his family and friends.

Gilles Henry died at the Hotel-Dieu hospital in Sorel, QC at 64 years of age. A resident of Sorel-Tracy, Quebec, Gilles leaves his wife Lisette, daughter Catherine and numerous relatives and friends. Gilles was passionate about boccia and very involved in his community. He started playing boccia with Les Faucons de Sorel Tracy, and became one of the best players in Quebec in the 1990’s, and the best player in his division in Canada. Gilles played in the BC4 division for athletes who have a degenerative disability (not cerebral palsy) and was part of Team Canada at the Americas championships in 1998 in Mar del Plata Argentina and the 1999 World Championships in Povoa de Varzim, Portugal.

Thank you Gilles and farewell
