Paul Gauthier and Monica Martino (both of Vancouver) and Alison Kabush (Surrey, BC) concluded their BC3 Pair competition on a positive note at the 2008 Beijing Paralympic Games. In the last game of the round robin, they won 8-2 against China.
“Canada played much better today”, said National Team Coach, Mario Delisle. “Our Game plan worked very well. If we had played like this yesterday, we would have most certainly advanced to the medal round”. But with a record of 0-2 and a differential of -16, they needed a victory by a bigger margin and lots of help from other teams to have any hope. At the end of the day, it was too little too late for the Canadians team and will finished the competition in eighth place.
The other two members of their pool, South Korea and Spain will battle for Gold. Thailand and Portugal will face other in the Bronze medal game. In the BC1/BC2 Team category, Portugal and Great Britain will meet in the Gold medal game. Spain will play China for Bronze.
In other sports, Megan Muscat and Leah Robinson (both of Windsor) were eliminated in the semi-final of the 100m T37 event. Although they did not advance to the finals, they both achieved personal best times. They will now prepare for the 200m on Saturday.
