
SportAbility / CP Sports of BC is pleased to announce the hiring of Herb Torrance as High Performance Boccia Coach of BC. Herb is a very experienced boccia coach having started coaching boccia in Vancouver in 1994 and has coached the Vancouver Wildcats for the last 12 years. In 1999 Herb was named to Canadian CP Sports National team as BC4 coach. At his first international event, the 1999 World Cup in Argentina, one of his athletes won a silver medal. Herb coached on the National Team up until his retirement from the national team program after Athens 2004, where his athletes won gold and bronze medals. Herb’s focus for the 2006 / 2007 boccia season will be to recruit more athletes and enhance the skills of all athletes. Herb received the Volunteer of the Year award from Sunny Hill Health Care Centre for Children in 1998 and the SportAbility Marm Zellweger Volunteer of the Year award in 2005.
