ANNOUNCEMENT - RESIGNATION OF DR. EARL CHURCH

The Canadian Cerebral Palsy Sports Association regretfully announces the resignation of Dr. Earl Church as its Executive Director as of September 29, 2008.

“I believe that this is the appropriate point in time - at the end of a quadrennial -  for me to move on. The organization is strong. I feel good leaving and knowing that CCPSA will be in good hands,” said Dr. Church.  “Earl Church has had a tremendous influence on our organization and we truly appreciate his dedication, professionalism as well as the tremendous work he has done on our behalf.  We are grateful that Earl has agreed to continue working with us on a consulting basis as we believe that he still has an integral role to play with our association.”  responded Sandy Hermiston, President of CCPSA.

Dr. Church had an immense impact on the Association during his seven years as Executive Director.  He implemented a new governance model for CCPSA.  Dr. Church secured AAP carding for the members of the Boccia National Team, hired a Head Coach and developed an espoir program.    He also enhanced affiliations with other National Sport Organizations, Sport Canada, and the Road to Excellence program.  He was instrumental in completing CCPSA’s Long Term Athlete Development Plan and developing CCPSA’s coaching education program.

CCPSA inducted Dr. Church into its Hall of Fame in 2008 in recognition of his contribution to coaching athletes with disabilities as well as all of his other efforts in developing our sports.

Dr. Church will continue to be involved with CCPSA as a consultant.
