Opening Ceremony - Cérémonie d'ouverture
The Canadian Boccia Team entered the gymnasium on the sound of music for the Opening Ceremony of the 2010 Boccia World Championships at the Lisbon University Sports Complex. The 11 athletes and 15 staff canadian members joined member of 33 other countries. You can watch the Opening Ceremony on the net by clicking here. The competition starts on June 2nd.
L’équipe canadienne de boccia a fait son entrée dans le gymnase au son de la musique durant les cérémonies d’ouverture des Championnats du monde de boccia CPISRA 2010 au complexe sportif de l’Université de Lisbone. Day 1: First day of Team and Pair Competition - Jour 1: première journée de compétition en équipe et en double
Canada had a good day at the CPISRA Boccia World Championships but could not transform this success into many wins. Only the Pair BC3 won a game beating Belgium in their first game of the Game. They later lost against the United States. The BC1/BC2 team lost both matches against Czech Republic and China. That game was decided on the last ball. The BC4 Pair lost a difficult game against Paralympic Champions, Brazil. The competition continue tomorrow.
Le Canada a connu une bonne journée au Championnats du monde de boccia CPISRA mais malheureusement le succès ne s’est pas pas transformé en plusieurs victoires. Seul le double BC3 a remporté un match en battant la Belgique d’entrée de jeu mais s’est par par la suite incliner contre les États-Unis lors de leur deuxième partie. L’équipe BC1/BC2 a baissé pavillon contre la République Tchèque et contre la Chine sur le dernier lancer du match. Le double BC4 a perdu sont seul match de la journée contre le Brésil, champion paralympiques. Le tout se poursuit demain.

Day 2: Pair BC3 and BC4 advance to the Quarter-Final - Jour 2: les doubles BC3 et BC4 passent en quart de finale.
The Canadian Boccia Team had a good day at the 2010 CPISRA Boccia World Championships. The Pair BC3 and Pair BC4 qualified for the quarter-final. Martin Dubois, Bruno Garneau and Monica Martino won their round of sixteenth’s match against Hong Kong to move to the next phase of the competition. They will face Portugal tomorrow morning. Jonathan Poulin, Josh Vander Vies and Caroline Vietneks completed their Pair BC4 round-robin competition with two impressive wins against China and Spain. They will meet Slovakia in the quarter-final tomorrow. Unfortunately, the Team BC1/BC2 were not so lucky and they were eliminated and will finish the competition in sixteenth place
L’équipe canadienne de boccia a connu du succès lors de la deuxième journée de compétition des Championnats du monde boccia CPISRA 2010. Les doubles BC3 et BC4 ont tous atteints les quart de finale. Martin Dubois, Bruno Garneau et Monica Martino ont gagné leur match de seizième de final contre Hong-Kong pour passer à l’étape suivante de la compétition. Ils affronteront le Portugal demain. Jonathan Poulin, Josh Vander Vies et Caroline Vietneks ont complété le tournoi la ronde du double BC3 avec deux impressionnates victoires contre la Chine et le Portugal. Ils rencontreront la Slovaquie demain en quart de finale demain. L’équipe BC1/BC2 n’ont pas été aussi chanceux et ont dû se contenter de la seixième place.

Day 3: Teams and Pair Competition Is Over - La compétition en double et en équipe est maintenant terminée
Canada finished the day early at the 2010 CPISRA Boccia World Championships. Both the BC3 and BC4 pairs were eliminated in the quarter-final but offered very good performances and exceeded expectations. All the players had time to relax in the afternoon and the individual competition starts tomorrow.
Le Canada a fini la journée de bonne heure aux Championnats du monde de boccia 2010 CPISRA. Les doubles BC3 et BC4 ont été éliminés en quart de finale mais offerts de très bonne performance et ont dépassé les attentes. Tous les joueurs ont eu le temps de relaxer en après-midi et la compétition individuelle débute demain.

Day 8: Adam Dukovich wins bronze - Jour 8: Adam Dukovch gagne la médaille de bronze
Adam Dukovich won a bronze medal in the BC2 category today at the 2010 CPISRA World Championships, in Lisbon Portugal. In the bronze medal match, he won 5-3 against Thomas Kral, of Slovakia. He scored 4 points in the last end to steal the victory. On his way to victory, he eliminated, Paralympic Champion, Karen Kwok, of Hong Kong in the round of 16th. There was 67 athletes from 27 countries in his category. It was his best result of the international scene. He finished 4th at the 2007 World Cup and 11th at the 2008 Paralympic Games. “I was able to play a good fourth end and made a great shot for the win with 10 second to go on the clock for the win”, Dukovich said after the games. “It feels great to be the bronze medalist and it is my goal to improve on this result in other international event”. Monica Martino finishes 8th in the BC3 Category.
